Tax Controversy

Our tax law practice is overseen by partner Louis Wooten, who holds a master's degree in tax law from Emory University. Between 1990 and 1992 Louis served as law clerk to the Honorable Robert R. Ruwe, a judge on the United States Tax Court.

Our tax practice encompasses advice and advocacy concerning state and federal income tax, North Carolina sales and use taxes, and estate and gift taxes. We provide tax planning services for individuals and businesses, counseling clients on the most tax efficient means to structure their affairs and their transactions. We regularly represent both corporations and individuals in proceedings before the Internal Revenue Service, the North Carolina Department of Revenue, the federal bankruptcy courts and the United States Tax Court. We assist clients who are undergoing tax audits, who are contesting unjustified tax assessments, and who seek rulings concerning the tax consequences of business transactions.
