Estate and Tax Planning

We offer a full array of legal advice and services to individuals seeking to plan their estates and preserve their personal assets. We have the knowledge and experience to advise our clients on all tax and non-tax issues related to estate planning matters. We have extensive experience in preparing wills and trusts and other estate planning documents. We regularly represent executors, trustees and other fiduciaries with the administration of trusts and estates. We also represent heirs, beneficiaries and fiduciaries in litigation over the validity of wills and trusts and other controversies or disputes related to the administration of trusts and estates. In assisting our clients, we are always mindful that each client matter requires special sensitivity to individual needs and personal privacy.

Louis Wooten, who has 15 years of experience in estate planning and administration for both modest and high-value estates, leads this practice area. He has represented many family-owned and other closely held businesses with respect to a wide array of estate, tax and non-tax business planning issues. Louis received his LL.M. in Taxation from Emory University and clerked for two years on the United States Tax Court for the Honorable Robert P. Ruwe.

Larry McBennett emphasizes to clients the need to make intentions clear when providing for the family during life and after death. He has advised numerous families make arrangements for the transfer of assets, care of children and appointment of an agent to manage financial and medical decisions later in life.
