Estate Administration

Estate administration is a burden often borne by the person closest to the decedent. Wading through a set of administrative rules to account for assets, pay debts and taxes, and disburse to beneficiaries can be challenging. Our legal assistance in this area is based on year’s of experience advising clients on estate matters. We also represent heirs, beneficiaries and fiduciaries in litigation over the validity of wills and other controversies or disputes related to the administration of estates.

Louis Wooten, who has 18 years of experience in estate planning and administration for both modest and high-value estates, leads this practice area. He has represented many family-owned and other closely held businesses with respect to a wide array of estate, tax and non-tax business planning issues. Louis received his LL.M. in Taxation from Emory University and clerked for two years on the United States Tax Court for the Honorable Robert P. Ruwe.

Larry McBennett emphasizes the methodical, expeditious progression of estate administration. Most estates do not require extended time periods to bring to closure. Where issues arise, he has the experience to help clients sort out the options and make appropriate decisions.
