Prior to joining EGHS, Beth spent a year as a legal fellow with The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press in Arlington, Va., where she worked with journalists and media attorneys around the country on reporter’s privilege, defamation and privacy issues. She has authored amicus curiae briefs for media law cases in both state and federal courts and is a co-editor of the 2007 Reporter’s Privilege Compendium. In addition to her knowledge of the legal issues that the news media face today, Beth has practical, first-hand experience in both print and broadcast journalism. She has written for the Legal Times, Law.com and The News Media and the Law magazine and interned for ESPN and ABC affiliate WSOC-TV (Charlotte). While in law school at UNC-Chapel Hill, she served as both a staff writer and editor for the First Amendment Law Review. She is currently the editor of the Wake County Bar Flyer. In addition to assisting the EGHS First Amendment team, Beth has
also taken steps to build a bankruptcy practice under the guidance
of partner Bill Janvier. She has handled matters for both debtors
and creditors and has experience with both general bankruptcy petitions
and adversary proceedings, including preference actions and objections
to dischargeability. She has assisted with both individual and business
Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 proceedings. |
