Ed Gaskins, one of our firm's founding partners, is a versatile lawyer with broad experience in litigation and resolution of a wide variety of commercial disputes, business-related problems and construction issues. During his career Ed has successfully litigated matters involving such diverse subjects as insurance coverage, business organizational disputes and construction disputes representing owners, contractors and architects. Ed's experience with construction-related litigation led him to become one of the first attorneys in North Carolina to represent people whose health and property have been adversely affected by toxic mold.

Ed's most frequent involvement is in the resolution of disputes which arise in a business context. Attorneys, both within and outside the firm value Ed's insight, judgment, persistence and compassion in dealing with the personalities, practical business realities and legal intricacies of business dispute resolution. Ed also serves as an arbitrator in business disputes.

Throughout his career, Ed also has been deeply interested in leadership, law firm management, attorney professionalism and legal ethics and serves as our firm's Managing Partner He frequently participates in seminars and forums dealing with team-building, personal growth and other quality of life issues and lawyer mentoring. He is a founding member of the Braxton Craven Inn of Court.

In 2004 the Wake County Bar Association honored Ed for his commitment to professionalism by selecting him to receive its highest award: the Joseph Branch Professionalism Award. He served as the Association's president in 2009. A former member of the American Bar Association's Professionalism Committee, he currently serves on the Chief Justice's Commission on Professionalism and the Wake County Bar Association's Professionalism Committee.

Ed's commitment to his family, profession, community and church is reflected in a wide variety of public service activities, including membership on the North Carolina Bar Association's Board of Governors and the Board of Directors of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce.
